ITTA
article on the future of European Security published in Fall 2001
edition of Mediterranean Quarterly
Dr.
Constantine Pagedas, Executive Vice President, contributed
an article entitled "Post-Ismay Europe: Britain and the Rebalance
of European Security" in the Fall 2001 edition of Mediterranean
Quarterly. In this article Dr. Pagedas provides a brief overview of
the evolving transatlantic security environment.
Overall,
Dr. Pagedas argues that the UK government's
successful rebalance of the Anglo-America special relationship and
its opening of a relationship with France since December 1998 represents
a major departure from the previous security relationships of the Cold War. The
confluence of British and French foreign and defense policies has helped
to create a transatlantic environment that can bridge the competing
Anglo-America and continental visions of European security.
Dr.
Pagedas is also the author of several books of the subject of
transatlantic security. These works include "Anglo-American Strategic Relations and
the French Problem, 1960-1963: A Troubled Partnership" (London: Frank Cass, 2000)
and of "Personalities, War & Diplomacy: Essays in International History" (London: Frank Cass, 1997).

United
States Internet Council and ITTA Inc. release the 2001 edition of the
State of the Internet Report
The
United States Internet Council, in cooperation with International
Technology and Trade Associates, released the 2001 State of the Internet
Report on November 12, 2001 at the National Press Club in Washington
D.C. This is the third annual survey in a series that examines the
growth of the Internet and explores key legal, business, and social
trends in the online world.
The
Internet continued to grow at a very rapid pace and surpassed a
half-billion online users in 2001. In fact, the Internet is growing so
rapidly that the architecture of the Internet is being compelled to
reshape itself with a new IP structure and new Top Level and
multilingual domains. The dot-com slowdown requires that online
businesses reorganize structures and strategies to "right
size" their operations for the new economy. In 2001, e-commerce
continued to grow and online business became more mainstream. The 2001
report is divided into six main sections.
Copies
of the report are available for purchase at $29.95 per copy plus
shipping and handling and may be ordered online at www.itta.com/internet2001.htm
