W.
Bruce Weinrod, ITTA’s
Managing Director and General Council, participated in a conference on
"International Technology Cooperation and Irregular Warfare” held in
London, England on June 27-28, 2005. The conference was co-organized by
the Institute
for Defense Analysis (IDA), the Potomac
Foundation, a US policy institute, and the Royal
United Services Institute (RUSI, a British defense policy
think-tank, focusing on transatlantic issues).
The
conference addressed issues related to what technologies are
required to deal effectively with irregular warfare of the type that
now exists in Iraq, and how such technologies can be identified and
quickly and effectively transferred to utilization in combat
operations. The conference provided an opportunity for an exchange
of views between British and US experts.
The
US delegation was led by General (Ret) Larry Welch, former IDA
President. The US delegation also included William Schneider,
Chairman of the Pentagon’s Defense
Science Board. The British delegation included senior military
officials responsible for transatlantic cooperation with respect to
Iraq and Afghanistan.

the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD)
2005 Annual Meeting Business Forum, held on May 19-23, 2005, in
Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro. The EBRD is the primary
international financial institution supporting the transition of the
countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union

This
year’s EBRD Annual Meeting highlighted the transition challenges
that continue to affect the economic development of the countries in
the “south and east” of the EBRD’s region of operations –
i.e. Southeastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. The
meeting also reviewed the economic and political impact of last
year’s eastward European Union enlargement on the Central European
and Baltic states that are now members of the Union.
ITTA has been active in advising companies seeking
investment in the countries supported by the EBRD, including the
establishment of representative offices and participation in
privatization projects.
